Gaza- Premier of the Palestinian Unity Government, Rami Hamdallah, arrived in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday from the West Bank city of Ramallah on a two-day official visit.
Government spokesman, Ihab Bseiso, told newsmen that Hamdallah would stay in Gaza until Friday.
He said during the stay, the Premier would hold meetings with leaders of various Palestinian factions, including Hamas movement.
Hamdallah’s convoy crossed into the Gaza Strip through Erez crossing point between Israel and the northern tip of the coastal enclave that has been under an Israeli blockade for eight years.
Report says it is Hamdallah’s second visit to the coastal enclave since the formation of the unity government in June 2015.
He made a first visit to Gaza in October, just less than two month to the end of last summer’s Israeli war.
“The Prime Minister’s visit to Gaza aims at studying a Swiss-proposed plan that aims at boosting the internal Palestinian reconciliation and speeding the process of reconstruction,’’ Bseiso said.
“This government should carry out real measures to remedy these mistakes. So far this government has failed to be the government for all Palestinians,’’ Zuhri said.
Hamdallah would hold separate meetings with leaders of various political factions and powers and also with the deputy of Hamas Chief, Ismail Henay, in Gaza city. (Xinhua/NAN)
