ADAMAWA (Sundiata Post) – Sen. Binos Yaroe (PDP/Adamawa South), on Saturday began the distribution of 4,500 bags of rice and maize across the nine Local Government Areas in his constituency.
Speaking at the Mayo-Belwa distribution point, Yaroe said that the gesture was an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for all Senators and members of the House of Representatives.
“This measure is to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable persons in our various constituencies,” he said.
Yaroe thanked the federal government and the contractor handling the supply, for the timely delivery.
He also commended the traditional leaders for agreeing to assist in ensuring that the real people benefited from the gesture at the grassroots.
In her address, Mrs Balkisu Ibrahim, Managing Director, Alkaf Global Investment Resources Limited, the suppliers of the items, appreciated the federal government’s kind initiative and the senator’s method of distribution.
She said that the contract was awarded at the end of December 2023.
Alhaji Abdullahi Dasong, paramount ruler of Shelleng, in a remark, assured the Senator of judicious distribution of the goods, with the vulnerable people at the grassroots as the sole beneficiaries.
Dasong, represented by Adamawa mineral resources commissioner Haruna Ibrahim, described the gesture as the real dividend of democracy that would impact on the lives of the ordinary people.
Mr Roben Nenunilase, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended the federal government for the gesture and Sen. Yaroe for keeping faith with his constituents.
“The gesture will alleviate the current hardship faced as a result of fuel subsidy removal,” he said.
