Calabar – Some participants in the ongoing National Industrial Skills Development Programme organised by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in Cross River have lauded the Federal Government for organising the programme.
The participants gave the commendation in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Sunday.
They said the training would equip them with skills that would enable them to be self-reliant and successful entrepreneurs.
Miss Eyiowam Ita, a graduate of Marketing who is receiving training in fashion designing, said that she would utilise the opportunity offered by the programme to improve her life.
“After graduation, I thought I would easily secure a white collar job, but for a whole three years I did not get any. Thank God this opportunity has come.
“I will exploit this opportunity to do things myself and become a big time entrepreneur. I thank the Federal Government and the ITF for making me part of this programme,” she said.
Similarly, Mr Aniefiok Bassey, who is being trained as a steel fabricator said:
“I am a graduate of Business Administration but now I am beginning to have interest in handwork.
“I believe that with this training and whatever the Bank of Industry will give me to start a business, I will do well.
“I thank the ITF for organising the programme; it is a worthwhile experience,” he said.
A trainee in Event Management, Mrs Gladys Etowa, said the training had given her hope of making a good living.
“I have now realised that success in life does not depend on working in the civil service or a big company. With this training one can become successful in life.
“I so appreciate the programme and I thank the organisers and the trainers,” she said. (NAN)
