LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), has cautioned against entering romantic relationships while unemployed, warning that financial instability can cloud judgment and lead to poor choices in love.
Speaking during a recent sermon shared on X on Thursday, Pastor Idowu emphasized how being jobless can restrict one’s preferences and cause individuals to settle for relationships they might not choose if they were financially independent.
“Don’t date when you are jobless,” he said. “There are some relationships that are attractive not because they are attractive, it’s because you have no money. When you have your own money, you will be surprised how you should have not fallen in love with some people. It’s not love induced; it was hunger induced.”
He also warned against making critical life decisions while financially desperate, likening it to accepting “a bad deal.”
“Never negotiate on an hungry stomach, you will get a bad deal. Crumbs mentality – when you are poor, small things satisfy you easily. One of the signs of crumbs mentality is that you settle for less so easily,” Pastor Idowu stated.
He went further to challenge his audience to adopt a mindset of abundance and avoid limiting their dreams due to their current circumstances.
“Shift in your thinking. I’m saying you need to think in abundance. I hang around people and when I hear the things that they used to talk about – ‘if I can just travel to America’. How can traveling to America be a goal,” he added.
Pastor Idowu’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users agreeing with his stance on the importance of financial stability before pursuing romantic commitments.
