LAGOS – A 35-year-old female pastor, Nkechi Ujunwa, was on Monday docked before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing nine bales of fairly used clothes (Okirika), worth N790,000.
Ujunwa, who resides at No. 9 Ajibola Aliko St., Okota, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and causing breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Osijale, told the court that the accused had on Aug. 5, 2011, at No. 9 Ajibola St., Surulere, Lagos, stolen nine bales of fairly used clothes worth N790,000 belonging to one Mr John Ojukwu.
Osijale said that the accused later sold seven out of the nine bales of used clothes to one Mr Izuchukwu Eze at the cost of N504,000.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 166(D), 278(2) and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Ujunwa, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs Joy Ogbomoiko, granted the accused N100,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till March 28. (NAN)
