ADO-EKITI – The Federation of Ekiti State Students on Tuesday called on the state government to pay the outstanding bursary and scholarship allowances of students.
The President of the union, Abegunde Oluwayomi, made the call at a press conference in Ado Ekiti.
Oluwayomi said the students would embark on protest should the state government fail to pay the allowances within seven days.
He said the state government had not paid the students their allowances in the last three years.
The student leader dissociated the union from the endorsement of Gov. Kayode Fayemi for the June 21 governorship election and urged its members not to polarise the union.
The students’ body also urged the government to review downward tuition fees in tertiary institutions in the interest of the poor.(NAN)
