LOKOJA – A member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the PDP, Hajia Halima, Alfa has called for a fresh conduct of the party’s primary for Kogi East senatorial ticket.
Alfa told a news conference in Lokoja on Monday that this had become necessary following the crisis that rocked the primary conducted on Dec. 7 at Idah, the senatorial district’s headquarter.
The BOT member said the primary was at vote counting stage when gunmen invaded the venue and started shooting indiscriminately and beating everybody in sight, a development she contended, brought the election to abrupt end.
Alfa, an aspirant for the ticket, said the primary was also held in contravention of the Electoral Act and characterised by malpractices.
She said a fake delegate list from Olamaboro Local Government was used at the instance of Sen. Attai Idoko “and this badly affected the integrity of the botched primary.’’
Alfa said Gov. Idris Wada of Kogi had been fully briefed, adding that it would be illegal for the party to give the ticket to anybody without conducting fresh primary. (NAN)
