The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to stop holding meetings at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, due to security concerns.
BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, announced the decision on Wednesday while opening a meeting of the Board in Abuja.
Senator Wabara stated that the BoT will now convene its meetings outside the PDP national secretariat until the security situation at Wadata Plaza improves.
This decision follows a violent clash last week between supporters of Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye, who are both claiming the position of PDP National Secretary. The incident occurred during a BoT meeting at the party’s secretariat.
During the meeting, BoT members are expected to discuss possible resolutions to the multiple court rulings affecting the National Secretary position.
Prominent BoT members attending the meeting include Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Secretary of the BoT, as well as former Governors Achike Udenwa, Sam Egwu, Babangida Aliyu, Senator Ben Obi, and Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
