George said it is imperative bto ascertain what led the opposition PDP to its current state and those responsible so in order to guide against a reoccurrence, before setting up a reconciliation committee.
The PDP last week constituted a National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committee headed by former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and former Minister of External Affairs, Tom Ikimi respectively.
However, George while featuring on a television programme, said the PDP was putting cart before the horse by constituting reconciliation and disciplinary panels, without a post mortem on the party’s outing in the last general elections.
According to him, “if you are setting up a reconciliation committee and a disciplinary committee, let us do a post mortem analysis that led us to this division during the election. The pre-election, the proper election and post-election matters, we will discuss it and after that, you will now be able to now set up a committee to reconcile people.
“If you try to go for a competition and you lose, whether you win or lose, you must do a postmortem. There will be areas where you have made certain mistakes, because to err is human.
“People are just arguing in their various slots, insulting people and I said, let look at all the sides. There are three major sides now. We can’t go to war, divided. We cannot. We cannot but take a looking at what happened, who created this? Who did that to avoid the reoccurrence in the future.”
George added “let us get back to the table to make sure we get back to that format which the founding fathers gave us, they handed over to my age group. What am I looking for? Now, if I cannot tell you the truth, what is it? I’m almost 80. I’m almost on the eight ladder of life. What are we running after?
“Why are we scattering this? I’m not saying everybody is clean or everybody is rocked, but it is when you go into the depths of why we get ourselves to this position that’s when we can say, Okay, let us avoid the pitfalls going forward.
