The Acting Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Finitiri has been disqualified by the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), from contesting the state’s gubernatorial election slated for Saturday, October 11, 2014. Former Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu made the disclosure Saturday evening. Mantu, who is the PDP Chairman election screening committee, stated that Finitiri’s disqualification was to allow free playing ground for all the candidates contesting the poll.
He said instead of contesting, Finitiri should concentrate on how to conduct a transparent, free, fair and credible election.
The primary of the October 11 poll is scheduled for next Saturday – September 6, 2014.
The forthcoming bye-election was necessitated owing to the impeachment on Tuesday July 15, of the former Governor Muritala Nyako by members of the state House of Assembly.
Former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, Ex Lagos state Military Administrator (MILAD), Col Buba Marawa (rtd) and Marcus Gundiri were on Friday granted waiver to contest the PDP primaries.
