Calabar- The Peoples Democratic (PDP) on Friday flagged off the 2015 presidential youth rally in Calabar, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The youths were drawn from the South-South and South-East Geo-Political Zones of the country.
Mr Jude Imagwe, Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth and Student Matters said the rally was organised to mobilise youths to vote for Jonathan in the Feb. 14 polls.
Imagwe said it was important to re-elect President Jonathan in 2015 in order to sustain the current tempo of development and for the continued growth of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
“President Jonathan is a great transformer, we need to re-elect him for the advancement of the country’s GDP. He has placed Nigeria’s economy at the top and above other African countries.
“This he has proven in the consistent and stable economic growth of the country.
“As part of his transformation agenda, the agricultural sector has received a boast. Our farmers now have massive fertilizer and agricultural facilities to improve their productivity’’, he said.
He urged the youths to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and come out en masse on Feb. 14 and vote for President Jonathan for the purpose of unity and continuity.
Gov. Liyel Imoke of Cross River said President Jonathan’s administration has taken deliberate steps in tackling corruption and unemployment in the country.
“The Jonathan administration is youth- friendly, it has provided massive job opportunities for millions of Nigerian youths and more steps are being taken to do more.

“The youths are the leaders of tomorrow; your destiny is in your hands. I urge all of you here and other youths not present, to vote for Jonathan come Feb. 14’’, he said.
According to him, the Jonathan administration has given youths the right to speak and demand for their rights.
Mr Abdullahi Maibasari, the PDP National Youth Leader, urged the youths to vote wisely for the re-election of Jonathan.
Maibasari advised the youths to conduct themselves in an orderly manner as they go out on Feb. 14 to cast their votes.
A cross section of the youths who spoke with NAN at the event pledged their support and loyalty to work for the PDP and to ensure the victory of President Jonathan in the Feb. 14 polls. (NAN)
