ENUGU (Sundiata Post) – Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Enugu.
During his opening remarks on Wednesday morning, Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, described the gathering as an extraordinary meeting for the governors to strategize and share ideas on advancing the party and the nation.
He commended the developmental strides of the host governor, Dr Peter Mbah, highlighting them as a testament to the PDP’s values.
“This is an extraordinary meeting of the PDP Governors Forum and some of our major stakeholders, including our National Working Committee and various organs of the party,” Mohammed stated.
“This meeting is unique and auspicious because we are here to showcase our history as a party. We have a legacy of leadership in this country. We established all the structures that were in place before the APC administration.”
“Today, we have come here to discuss, strategize, interact, and address issues that affect us. Nigerians need us, and we need one another.”
“With all humility, I am very proud of my colleagues for the good governance they have established. I thank my colleagues and our host for the hospitality he has shown us since our arrival. This exemplifies the character of the PDP.”
“Our agenda encompasses all aspects of governance, including party administration and revitalising our strategies. We have a history, and the presence of stakeholders from other states is a testament to that history.”
“Our governors will discuss the upcoming congresses and other crucial matters to present a credible alternative to Nigerians because they deserve it. Actions at the national level indicate a drift towards anarchy, and we cannot allow this. We have a shared history and shared aspirations to ensure that Nigeria reclaims its rightful place as a leader among nations,” he affirmed.
Other governors present at the meeting included Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom State), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Godwin Obaseki (Edo State), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau State), Agbu Kefas (Taraba State), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa State), Douye Diri (Bayelsa State), and the host governor, Peter Mbah.
Also in attendance were the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; the Acting National Chairman of the party, represented by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja; former Governor of Kaduna State and former Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; and former Governor of Niger State, Dr Babangida Aliyu.
