Chief Jude Ezenwafor has been chosen as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming election in Anambra State, scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The party’s primary election was held on Tuesday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka. Ezenwafor, an Abuja-based real estate professional, was the only person who obtained the nomination form, meaning he had no opponents in the race.
Despite being the sole aspirant, the PDP still carried out the voting process. Delegates cast their votes by writing his name on the ballot papers.
In total, 853 delegates participated in the election. Among them were 839 delegates from all 21 local government areas in the state, along with 14 national delegates.
The national delegates were the first to vote, followed by those from each local government area.
With Ezenwafor now officially selected, the PDP joins other political parties that have announced their candidates for the 2025 governorship race.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has re-nominated the current governor, Chukwuma Soludo, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) picked Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu.
The Labour Party selected George Muoghalu as its candidate, and the African Action Congress (AAC) chose Chioma Ifemuludike, who is currently the only female candidate in the race.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present at the venues where the parties conducted their primary elections.
