Abia State House of Assembly member, Lucky Johnson, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his defection to the Labour Party.
Johnson, who represents the Isuikwuato constituency, formally conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to the Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa. He cited the ongoing crisis within the PDP at both the national and state levels as the primary reason for his decision to leave the party.
He explained that his move to the Labour Party followed extensive consultations with his political mentors and key leaders in the state. Additionally, he attributed his defection to the impressive performance of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
Johnson concluded by stating that, moving forward, he should be recognized as a member of the Labour Party, which is the ruling party in Abia State.
