KADUNA (Sundiata Post) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has condemned the recent sacking of traditional rulers by Governor Nasiru el Rufai.
The party in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abraham Catoh, said that the governor took the action not minding the fact that the chiefdoms and districts were created by the past PDP administration in the state to meet the yearnings and expectations of the people.
The statement said, “The Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State condemn, in its entirety, the recent dissolution of over 4,000 traditional councils across Kaduna State, which was a creation of the PDP,based on popular requests from the different communities that were affected.
“The State Chairman and his Exco wish to state categorically that the PDP shall re-instate the sacked District Heads and village Heads back to their positions once in power come 2019.
“We urge all the affected traditional Councils to restrain from making anything that is against the law,for this is just a temporary setback that will be corrected on the 29th May,2019. We also want to use this medium to call on our members and supporters to remain calm, and also continue in the struggle for a united PDP family ,for there is light at the end of the tunnel, and we shall be stronger after the Supreme Court judgement, which will soon be dispensed.”
The statement added, “We shall let you know the date for the long awaited judgement.”
