Minna – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger has set up an 11-man reconciliation committee to meet aggrieved members not happy with the outcome of the May 11, 2016 state congress.
The Chairman, Mr Tanko Beji, disclosed this in Minna on Tuesday, when he received a delegation of PDP members from Bosso Local Government Area of the state
Beji who named retired Col. Aminu Kontagora, former Benue and Kano state military governor, as co-chairman of the committee, expressed optimism that the committee would bring back all aggrieved members back to the fold.
“We will not allow anyone to leave the party; we will continue to talk to those that are aggrieved but if they decide not to return, there is nothing that we can do than to allow them to have their way,’’ he said.
He said that the new leadership of the party would operate an open door policy that would seek the views of members before taking any decision.
According to him “the era of imposition of candidates on the people has gone forever, while all forms of impunity would not be entertained.
“We are reforming the PDP. We must all work together to rebuild our party.’’
Also speaking, Alhaji Danlami Aliyu, chairman of Bosso Local Government chapter of the party, said that the visit was to appreciate God for making one of their sons the state chairman of the party.
He pledged members’ support and loyalty not only to the new imposition, but the PDP in the state and the national leadership. (NAN)
