Abuja- President Goodluck Jonathan will on Jan. 19 visit Sokoto to flag off the presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in the State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Coordinator of Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo Campaign Organisation in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Gidado in Sokoto on Friday.
The statement said Jonathan and his team would be received at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, by chieftains of the party in the state.

“Arrangements are in top gear for the flag off of the campaign at Shehu Kangiwa Square in Sokoto metropolis.
“Committees have been set up for the ceremony’’, the statement added.
It called on the people of the state to come out en masse to give the President a rousing welcome.
“This is to confirm to him that the state is indeed a PDP state.
“This is to also show that the people are willing and ready to vote him again so that he will continue with the good work of transforming Nigeria’’, the statement added.
It also called on the people, especially PDP supporters, to remain peaceful, law abiding and hospitable during the visit as they are known for.
Also, the PDP in Nasarawa State on Friday inaugurated a 34-member Campaign Committee ahead of the February general elections.
Mr Yunana Iliya, state Chairman of the party, asked the committee to live above board in order to ensure the victory of the party at all levels.
He charged the committee to ensure the success of the party in the state.
Iliya expressed the belief that PDP would win the presidential election and will as well reclaim its 2011 lost mandate in Nasarawa.
He said that when the party was in power, its track record of achievements were quite impressive.
Iliya urged eligible Nigerians to vote President Jonathan and all other PDP candidates in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy,
He said the PDP was the only party that would bring dividends of democracy to the electorate.
Iliya called on members of the party not to relent in their efforts in canvassing support for the party in order to ensure its victory.
“I urge you to work with this committee in order to ensure the success of our party during February polls”, he said.
The chairman advised Nigerians against indulging in politics of ethnicity and religion.
He urged the people to be law abiding and respect constituted authority in the interest of peace and national development.

He said that they would discharge their duties without fear or favour.
“We need our party members’ prayers and support in order to win all positions during the February polls.
“We are here for winning the election and I urge other party stakeholders and supporters to work as a team and to see each other as brothers and sisters’’, he said.
Ewuga called on the people of the state to vote for PDP in order to bring permanent peace and for even development of the state.
He said that peace was a necessary requirement for the development of any nation.
Ewuga said the people of the state and Nigerians should live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
Members of the committee include Alhaji Yusuf Agabi; Mr John Mathew; Mr Dameshi Luka; Mr Mathew Akwe; Sen. Abubakar Sodangi and Mr Mike Abdul.
Alhaji Halilu Envulanza; Sen. Walid Jibrin; Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, Alhaji Yusuf Ayitogo and Sen. Patricia Akwashiki are also members.
Alhaji Adamu Oyanki was named Secretary, with Mr Dameshi Luka as the Deputy Director General (Operations).
Alhaji Usman Bagudu is the Deputy Director General (Administration and Finance).
The PDP governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom, Mr Udom Emmanuel, promised to create jobs for the youths of the state, if elected.
Udom made the promise at Uyo during the inauguration of PDP campaign and handing over of flags to its candidates for the February elections.
He said that his administration would embark on rapid industrialisation of the state in order to achieve his ambition for the youths.

According to him, job creation will be done through entrepreneurship development revolution and bring back agricultural revolution to the state.
“We will ensure that entrepreneurship is not just a subject; we will make it as a mind set of people. You don’t need to go to the university to learn entrepreneurship’’, he said.
Emmanuel said the within two and half years, his administration would embark on agricultural development and poverty alleviation.
He promised to involve youths in sports development programmes/activities.
He said that he would turn Akwa Ibom International Stadium to “youth’s renaissance complex.’’
Mr Paul Ekpo, PDP Chairman in the State, said there was no alternative to PDP, adding it would continue to rule Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
Ekpo called on Akwa Ibom people to support President Jonathan and all the PDP candidates in Akwa Ibom.
Gov. Godswill Akpabio thanked the people of the state for standing with PDP since 1999 till date.
Akpabio appealed to them to support Emmanuel as the PDP governorship candidate. (NAN)
