ABUJA – Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, has urged researchers in the ministry and agencies under it to come together to initiate research projects.
Oyo-Ita made this call on Friday in Abuja while briefing newsmen at the end of her familiarisation tours to the headquarters of some parastatals under the ministry.
She promised that the government would support research projects undertaken by the ministry and its agencies that could move Nigeria forward.
The permanent secretary emphasised the need for cooperation between the ministry and the agencies under it.
She solicited for the cooperation and support of workers in the ministry and its agencies
to enhance productivity.
She advised the agencies to always collaborate in programme formulation and execution, and to make sure they come up viable programmes.
“I noticed that, may be for some reasons, the agencies don’t work together; there should be a synergy among all the agencies to ensure success.
“We should find a way of working together, driving our goals together as a family; the ministry should not be sidelined,’’ he said.
“All the agencies should be seen as working, there should be a synergy between the ministry and agencies like Ministry of Water Resources, and the National Emergency Management Agency, among others.’’ (NAN)
