LAGOS – Dr Ahmid Balogun, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Service Commission has called for adequate supervision, attention and annual promotion for health workers, to ensure best practices in the health sector.
Balogun, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Strategy, said this during the promotion exercise organised for some 1,500 health workers in the state.
He said that this was necessary, given the sensitivity and nature of health-related professions.
“Promotion for all health workers must always be merit-based, as the sector is a sensitive one that directly deals with human lives.
“It is the only way to go in order to achieve and maintain excellent health practices,” Balogun said.
The Permanent Secretary said that the examination was designed to cater for officers of the state’s 24 General Hospitals, and members of staff of the commission.
According to him, this year’s annual promotion examination was carefully planned and monitored to ensure transparency throughout the exercise.
Balogun said that the exercise would reinforce the efforts of government at providing excellent and quality healthcare for the people of the state.
He said that great effort was put into the planning of the exercise, to ensure transparency.
Balogun said that the examination exercise which took place at King’s College, Lagos, was divided into two sessions.
“The first session catered for professionals such as medical, pharmacy, engineering, finance and administrative cadre and Stores.
“The other session took care of Nursing and Junior Finance and Administrative cadres,” he added. (NAN)
