In the midst of ongoing tensions between the Labour Party and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson for the now-defunct Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has alleged a potential political move involving Peter Obi and former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Taking to his official X account on Friday, Bwala claimed that Obi might be considering leaving the Labour Party to align with El-Rufai within the Social Democratic Party (SDP). This assertion comes amidst the backdrop of internal strife within the Labour Party, particularly concerning calls for the removal of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure.
Earlier reports from Naija News highlighted the discord between the Labour Party and the country’s labour union, further exacerbated by the dispute surrounding Abure’s leadership.
Commenting on the situation, Bwala hinted at Obi’s potential alliance with El-Rufai within the SDP, as the Labour Party grapples with efforts to oust the current leadership under Abure.
In his statement, Bwala remarked, “BREAKING: Peter Obi allegedly planning to join forces with El-Rufai in the Social Democratic Party as the Nigerian Labour Congress moves to assert control over their political entity, the @NgLabour. It’s worth noting a court judgment affirming the NLC’s ownership of the Labour Party. With the NLC poised to assume custody of the party, expect further twists and turns in the days ahead. However, these developments may not perturb @officialABAT, who seemingly holds his own strategies to navigate the political landscape.”
