The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has described lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi as an example of courage in the face of adversity.
Farotimi was earlier remanded in prison custody following allegations of character defamation levelled against him by another lawyer, Afe Babalola.
In a photo post made on his personal X account, Obi said he visited Farotimi on Thursday, January 2, after meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He said, “Yesterday, following my visit and meeting with President Obasanjo, I made time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi.
“Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him,” Obi said.
He noted that he was pleased to meet the activist in good spirits and was encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.
He said, “@DeleFarotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation.
“I wish him a fruitful and productive year as we continue to work together toward the development of our country,” Obi added.
