PORTHARCOURT (SundiataPost) – The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Dakuku Peterside, has urged Rivers State people to emulate Jesus Christ’s humility and compassion as we celebrate the birth of our saviour.
Peterside, in a Christmas message by the Director of Communication of his campaign organisation, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, urged the people to always work for the unity of the state, adding that irrespective of ethnic divide, the people should see themselves as one.
“Jesus died for the sins of all of us. That is the hallmark of self-less service and compassion. We must emulate good virtues such as these for our state and society to be better,” he said.
The APC candidate added that his desire to be Governor of the state “is a product of deep reflection and commitment to serve and a passion to expand economic opportunities for all our people.”
He went on: “My aspiration is not about the pomp, pecks and privileges of office, but out of a desire to make Rivers State greater. I believe we can provide leadership that will accelerate the actualisation of a greater Rivers dream of improved middle class, first class safe environment, equal and more socio-economic opportunities and create a greater sense of community, a Rivers State that will be the pride of Africa.”
He promised that if elected governor, he would govern the state with the fear of God, bearing in mind that if Christ had not paid the ultimate price, there would be no sane society.
He therefore called on the people to support APC so that “collectively we can achieve our dream of a better and greater Rivers State”.
