GUSAU- A philanthropist, Alhaji Mustapha Kwado, has donated office accommodation for the the Rapid Response Squad of the NSCDC to enhance security in Zamfara.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the office was opened on Tuesday in Igala quarters of Gusau by Zamfara Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Mohammed Bello.
Kwado said that he donated the office as part of his contribution to the efforts of the corps and other security agencies to tackle the security challenges in the state.
The philanthropist, who was represented by Prof. Nasir Anka, urged residents to support security agencies to restore peace and stability in the state.
Kwado said that securing the state was a collective responsibility, as such all well meaning residents must contribute in tackling the menace.
He further called on organisations and wealthy individuals to also devise ways through which to enhance security in their localities.
In his speech, the NSCDC Commandant expressed appreciation to Kwado for the donation, saying it would strengthen the war against insecurity in the state.
Bello said that the rapid eesponse unit was a mobile strike force created to respond to distress calls and deal with security situations promptly.
“The rapid response unit is specifically created to protect the civil populace from perceived security threats and molestations by hoodlums and miscreants in the society,” he added.
The commandant called on well meaning residents to close ranks with security agencies to ameliorate the security situation in the state.
He assured that the squad would enhance community policing and respond to distress calls in any community. (NAN)
