Kaduna – The Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Training Command, Kaduna, AVM Ahmed Wakil says physical and mental fitness of the body is critical to the military service.
Wakil made this known on Saturday in Kaduna during the command’s annual 10km walk, Jog at the Nigeria Air Force Base.
“The Nigerian Air Force is a combat Arm of service, you are aware we participate in various military operations in the country.
“That is why we have to be physically and mentally fit to be ready to face any challenges.’’
The Air officer commanding was represented by Air Comdr, Remigius Ekeh during the exercise.
According to Wakil, these are some of the programmes the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has designed to ensure that personnel are physically and mentally fit to carry out their duty professionally.
“It is mandatory for personnel to turn up for this exercise.’
“Officers, airmen and airwomen are supposed to engage themselves to various exercises even after this one.’
“It is the responsibility of every personnel to ensure that they are fit to the task ahead,’’ the AOC said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 2,500 personnel participated in the 10km walk jog, while prizes were presented to athletes for their performance. (NAN)
