Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Members of the Plateau State Assembly in partnership with the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), have finalized plans to extend electricity supply to the Plateau State University in Bokkos Local Government Area of the State.
Members of the Assembly who took the lead are the Majority Leader, Hon. Maren Ishsku and the Minority Chief Whip, Hon. Gabriel Dewan, owing primarily to the fact that the duo are an alumni of the University.
Ensuring speedy moves to achieve the effort, the two House members led the Managing Director JED, Engr. Abdu Mohammed, recently to the host environment of the varsity.
Speaking while at the premises of the Ivory tower, Mohammed in a Statement signed by the Head, Corporate Communications, JED, Dr. Friday Elijah, said the extension of electricity will cover not only Bokkos LGA but far reaching Southern Plateau.
He sent his team of engineers to begin immediate inspection of the areas to ensure speedy implementation of the electricity supply.
According to him: “The Majority Leader and the Minority Leader are products of this university and are therefore great ambassadors of the institution. I am proud to be associated with them and the university. We hope to partner for the common good of our people.
“I admonish the people of the area to endeavour to protect all electricity installations located in their domain and endeavour to pay for your consumed energy when supply is extended to you”, he said.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Assoc. Prof. Jurji Gomos, thanked the two leaders of the House of Assembly and the JED MD, for thinking towards ending one of the greatest challenges confronting the university.
Also in their remarks the duo of Assembly members said they invite the JED MD to see how the suffering of the people of their constituency in electricity shortage could be addressed.
