Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has declared a three-day mourning period for the late Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Samuel Galadima, who died on Wednesday.
Galadima, 64, slumped at the Rwang Pam Stadium, where he and Lalong, along with other members of the State Executive Council, were having a walk out as part of the weekly keep-fit exercise.
He later died at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital where he was rushed to for medical attention.
Lalong, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Bitrus Bature, described Galadima’s death as highly regrettable.
“On behalf of the Government of Plateau State, it is with sincere sense of loss deeply grieved to announce the sudden demise of the Hon. Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Arc Samuel Galadima, who passed on to glory this morning, Wednesday, 22nd March, 2017 at the age of 64.
“The late Hon. Arc Samuel Galadima was part of the state Executive Council members participating in the regular forth-nightly Physical Exercise at the Jos Township Stadium, when he slumped and was rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“The Executive Governor has as a result of this tragic loss, declared three (3) days of mourning beginning from today Wednesday, the 22nd to Friday the 24th of March, 2017.
“The Executive Governor has also suspended all his public functions in keeping with the mourning mood of the State. All citizens of Plateau State are enjoined to share in the burden of this loss while praying to God for the family and indeed the entire people of Plateau State to have the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
