Jos – Mr Dapar Logan, the Director of Sports, Plateau State Sports Council, on Friday advised youths in the state to shun alcoholism and embrace sports as a way to better their lives.
Logan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that he had discovered that Plateau youths were exceptionally good in various sports.
He, however, said that he had also discovered that in spite of their innate potential in sports, so many of the youth shy away from sports and loiter.
He also noted that some others were weak as a result of indulgence in alcohol intake and were unfocused to engage meaningfully in sports.
Logan said that those indulging in alcohol and other drugs abuse could be rehabilitated and encouraged to be sports-loving and win laurels for the state.
“Most of these youths are only looking for what to do and with the high rate of unemployment in the country; sports will help to keep them away from some vices.
According to Logan they stand the opportunity of redeeming themselves by winning laurels and going places.
