Player appeals for improvement on table tennis facilities in Ekiti

LAGOS – An Ekiti table tennis player, Tosin Oribamise, on Monday appealed to the state’s Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, to give  adequate attention to the provision of sports facilities.

Oribamise told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that sports facilities in the state needed to be upgraded to meet international standards.

She noted that the availability of standard facilities would facilitate the discovery of budding talents and also enhance players’ training ahead of competitions.

“The table tennis training hall in the state is not in good shape and this has affected our performance in national competitions.

“I’m appealing to the newly-elected governor to come to our aid by providing a standard table tennis hall that is well equipped to enhance athletes’ performance.[eap_ad_2]

“If we have a standard table tennis facility on ground, it will also help to discover and nurture young talents,’’ Oribamise, a winner of one gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the 2013 ITTF Global Junior Championships in Tunisia, said.

The player also advised upcoming players to be more committed in the sport.

Oribamise however appealed to corporate bodies to support the growth of the sport by sponsoring some of its competitions.(NAN)[eap_ad_3]
