THE Polish Minister of the Economy Mr. Dycha has said that Poland can work with Nigeria to achieve self-sufficiency in fish production because of the availability of modern fish processing facilities in Poland.
The Minister, who paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in Abuja on Tuesday disclosed that most of the fish products imported into Nigeria from Norway are processed in Poland.
Dycha, who was accompanied by the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Niesio Cowsles informed the Permanent Secretary, Arc.
Sonny Echono, who represented the Minister of Agriculture that Poland can offer services in the area of agricultural production and storage, which will be beneficial to the country.

He said Poland was willing to strengthen the existing relationship between the two countries and in what the they are jointly doing in agriculture.
Responding, Echono told the Polish Minister and his entourage that Nigeria is willing to widen the existing relationship with Poland in the agricultural sector and disclosed that the country will be ready to work with Poland in increasing crop yields, expansion of processing facilities, packaging, reduction in post harvest losses and sustainable land utilisation.
He also mentioned expansion of production and processing in animal production as well as establishment of working relationship between agricultural research institutions of the two countries.
It will be recalled that the Nigerian Research/Fishing Vessel MV Bayagbona, which was commission in 2014 by the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan, was built in Poland.
