Sango-Ota (Ogun),- The Police in Ogun on Monday arraigned two men; Ifasawe Ifarinola,46, and Alaba Olaoye,45, for allegedly defrauding one Kudirat Ayinde of N3.7 million.
The accused persons are being tried on a three- count charge of obtaining money under false pretense, fraud and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused persons, and others still at large, committed the offences between August 2011 and August 2012 in Ota.
Mustapha said that the accused persons and others still at large collected N3.7 million under false pretense from one Kudirat Ayinde for the supply of herbs and other products, but later reneged on their contractual agreement.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 1 (c) and 8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, Laws of the Federation, 2006.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties in like sum.
Abimbola said that the sureties should swear to an affidavit of means and show evidence of tax clearance in the last one year.
The magistrate adjourned the case to July 16 for mention.(NAN)
