Osogbo – A 57-year-old man, Matthew Isawumi, on Tuesday appeared before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged assault.
The prosecutor, Idoko James, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Dec. 15, 2015 at about 11.00am in Ile-Ife, Osun.
James said the accused conspired with others now at large to assault one Prince Adeleke Adedoyin Gbadebo.
He said the accused used dangerous weapons such as axe, iron rod, cutlass and stick to inflict injuries on the complainant.
The prosecutor also said that the accused and his alleged collaborators destroyed the windscreen of Gbadebo’s Mitsubishi vehicle registration number No. LSR 953 AS .
James said the offence committed contravened sections 517, 451 and 351 of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy and assault with malicious damage.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Ola Babatunde, prayed the Magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the accused person bail in the sum N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, provide evidence of tax payment and two passport photographs attached with affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned to Nov. 1, for hearing.
