Ikeja. -. The police on Monday arraigned an artist, Oparaji Solomon, in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an iPhone X5, worth N493,000.
Solomon, 27, who resides in Ifako-Ijaye area of Lagos State, is charged with stealing and obtaining goods under false pretense.
Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 24 at Shoprite, Surulere, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, Solomon stole an iphone X5 worth N493,000 belonging to Mr Davis Chinkata.
He said that Solomon placed an order for the phone with an arrangement to pay on the delivery date but failed to fulfill the terms.
“When the phone was delivered to him at Shoprite as requested, he claimed that he did not have cash on him.
“He collected the account number from the complainant and sent a fake alert to him.” the counsl said.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate S. K Matepo admitted Solomon to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Matepo ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The magistrate adjourned hearing in the case until May 6.
