ABUJA – The police on Tuesday arraigned a commercial motorcycle rider in FCT Area Court, Lugbe, for betraying his employer.
The accused, Ekeiel Haruna, 43, of Tudun-Wada, Airport Road, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Anigbo paul, told the court that the complainant, Umar Abubakar, reported the matter at Lugbe Police Station, Abuja, on April 16, 2014.
Paul said Abubakar gave Haruna his Bajaj motorcycle, valued at N120,000 for commercial purpose but that after three days, Haruna came back and told him that thieves stole the motorcycle from him.
He said Haruna then wrote an undertaking on April 16 to pay for the motorcycle “but up until now, he has failed to fulfill his promise.’’
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence and the Senior Judge, Gambo Garba, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.
He said the surety must live within the court premises and adjourned the case until Dec. 23 for further hearing. (NAN)
