Abuja – The police on Friday arraigned a 26-year-old labourer, Abdullaziz Abdullaziz in a Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing two generator battery worth N72,000.
The police charged Abdullaziz, who lives in Jabi Garage Abuja, with two counts of criminal trespass and theft.
The Police Prosecutor, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that the matter was reported at the Utako Police Station on March 22.
Ukagha said that Abdullaziz criminally trespassed into No 44 Mike Ahigbe road Jabi and stole two generator battery valued at N72, 000
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, Abdullaziz could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.
Ukagha said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250, 000, with one reliable surety in like sum.
Maiwada ordered that the surety must be a grade level 08 Officer in the Federal Civil Service, address must be within the court’s jurisdiction and verified by the court’s police.
He ordered that the surety must present his utility bill and adjourned the matter until May 5 for hearing.
