Abuja – A 34-year-old man, Ifeanyi Chukwu, on Friday appeared in a Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for allegedly stealing vehicles from an estate.
Chukwu of Kado village and eight others now at large, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and robbery contrary to Section 97 and 298 of the Penal Code.
The Prosecutor, Umoh Inah, said the police officers from Utako Division in collaboration with ACCOS Police Patrol team were intimated of the robbery incident at Rainbow Estate, Yakasai, Abuja.
Inah added that the police chased the defendant, who was driving one of the stolen vehicles, a Mercedes benz MK 35 and arrested him.
He added that another car key traced to a Toyota Venza, which the defendant had snatched from the owner was also recovered from him.
The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, said the accused should be remanded in prison custody till the motion for bail application was considered.
Kagarko adjourned the case till April 6 for hearing. (NAN)
