Police arraign man over Indian hemp possession, smoking

Sango-Ota (Ogun) – The Police on Tuesday arraigned one Saheed Fasina, 22, in an Ota Magistrates’ Court, for alleged possession and smoking of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Samson, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 24, at about 1p.m., at Sango-Ota, Ogun.
She said that the accused person, who lives at No. 21, Oresanya St., Sango-Ota, was found smoking the weed suspected to be Indian hemp in public.
Samson said that the offence contravened Section 88 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must be close relations of the accused person, should produce tax clearance in the last of one year and swear to an affidavit of means.
Adebutu said that the addresses of the sureties should be verified by the police.
She adjourned the case till Nov. 4, for hearing.(NAN)
