Lagos – The police on Wednesday arraigned a restaurant manager , Nosa Okupoji, in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N8 million from his employer.
Okupoji, 25, whose residential address was not given, is charged with two counts of theft and breach of peace.
The Prosecution Counsel, Cpl. Godspower Ehizoba, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between December 2018 and August 2019, at about 8 a.m and 9.30p.m. at No.18B, Emmanuel Abimbola Cole St., Victoria Island Lagos.
Ehizoba alleged that the defendant stole N8 million from a restaurant, Delta Pot Cuisine.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 168 (d) and 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 168 (d) provides six months imprison as punishment for breach of the peace while Section 287 (7) provides seven years imprison as punishment for stealing
Okupoji, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate M.F. Onamusi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that one of the sureties must be a related to the defendant and must be gainfully employed.
Onamusi adjourned the case until Oct. 8 for mention.
