Abuja – The police on Thursday arraigned a 37-year-old travel agent, Felix Akpoi, in a Grade 1 Area Court in Kado, Abuja, for breach of trust and cheating.
Akpoi,who resides at plot 146, 1st Avenue,Gwarimpa, Abuja, is facing a one-court charge of breach of trust.
The prosecutor,Insp.Friday Idi, told the court that one Sambo Gandu of 11, Owerri Street, War College Estate,Gwarimpa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Gwarimpa police station on July 7.
Idi said that the accused fraudulently cancelled Gandu’s wife’s Hajj ticket (Maryam Gandu) to Saudi Arabia at a cost of 291,135 and converted it to his own personal use.
The prosecutor said the accused had confessed to the crime during police investigation, noting that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 322 of the penal code.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence and the Judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
Sadiq said the surety must be a Grade level seven officer in the FCT and adjourned the case until Sept. 3 for further hearing. (NAN)
