Kandahar, Afghanistan – Local police on Monday said the Afghan National Police have arrested 11 Taliban militants in the country’s southern Kandahar province.
Jamal Barakzai, provincial police spokesman, told Xinhua that the ANP launched several raids in separate locations of Kandahar province, arresting 11 members of Taliban militant group within the past week.
Seven of those arrested were responsible for a string of targeted attacks against government officials and off-duty security forces in Kandahar.
The Taliban militant group has not made a comment on the report so far.
Security situation has been improving in Kandahar, the former stronghold of Taliban, over months, as security forces have conducted search and cordon operations across the province.
