Kano – The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested 17 youths, including sons of prominent personalities in the state for illegally racing with posh cars on new year eve.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr Muhammad Katsina, made this known while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Kano.

He said that the suspects were apprehended by the police on patrol while driving at what he described as ‘killer speed’ which led to the death of two persons on the road.

“The suspects were arrested for failure to obtain Police permission before embarking on the race.”

He said that as soon as investigation was completed, the suspects would be charged to court for proper prosecution.

According to him, it is unlawful for anyone to block the road with no justifiable reasons.

“They flagrantly violated the law for illegally racing at the wee hours of the night which will not be tolerated.”
