Sokoto – The Police in Sokoto State have arrested two suspects who specialised in adulterating drugs and one other in possession with counterfeit dollars.
The Spokesperson of the Police Command in the state, ASP Cordelia Nwewe, told Journalists in Sokoto on Thursday that the suspects were arrested on April 3 by a team of policemen on patrol at Kara area of Sokoto.
Nwewe said that one of the suspects, Oliver Ugwu, was found in possession of 25 bottles of adulterated drugs such as Maysedyl with Cordeine and Panpiden.
According to her, Ugwu was selling a bottle of the drugs for N800 to youths, who are his regular customers.
She also said that the team also arrested one Zayyanu Aliyu of Unguwan Rogo area of the city found in possession of 109 bottles of Maysedyl.
She said Aliyu was also in possession of 26 empty bottles of Maysedyl with Codeine, two bottles of mixed liquid content and the sum of N190, 000.
The police spokesperson said the command had also arrested one Yahaya Isah, a national of the Niger republic, found in possession of American Dollars suspected to be counterfeit.
Nwewe said the suspect was found in possession of suspected fake American dollars notes.
She added that the suspect confessed to have received the said counterfeit from one Gisa, also a Niger republic national, now at large.
According to her, the case has been transferred to the police command headquarters in the state for further investigation.
The spokesperson added that all the suspects were undergoing investigation after which they would be charged to court. (NAN)
