ILORIN – The Police in Kwara on Tuesday said it had arrested four suspects for illegal possession of firearms.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Zanna Ibrahim, told newsmen that “four suspects were arrested in Oyun, Ilorin metropolis, in the house of PDP Chairman on Tuesday morning.
“One of the suspects, Olorunfemi Sola, was caught with a locally made gun and one live cartridge’’, he said.
Ibrahim said investigation into the matter was still going on, adding that it would reveal the identities of other suspects.
In his reaction, the Caretaker Chairman of PDP in the state, Mr Solomon Edoja, told NAN that some hoodlums were sighted outside his house and he alerted the police.
According to him, about 90 per cent of the hoodlums were people masquerading like PDP members whose mission was to foment trouble.
“When police arrested one of them and searched him thoroughly, he was caught with live ammunition.
“You will agree with me that it is typical of hoodlums to mention names of prominent persons when arrested’’, Edoja said. (NAN)
