ASP Numan Ismaila, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the State, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lafia that the sound came from bust tyre of a trailer.

He confirmed that there was a lot of panic in the town but officers of the command immediately swung into action to ascertain where the sound came from.

Ismaila, who said police have mapped out strategies to beef up security in all nooks and crannies in the state, solicited support from members of the public.

He appealed to residents of the state to avoid places that are overcrowded and be security conscious by reporting any abandoned vehicle or object that is suspicious.

“Whatever the security agencies are doing, it is for the peace and security of people of Nassarawa state.

“We should stop spreading unnecessary rumours that tend to create panic and apprehension”, he said. (NAN)
