Abuja   –     The police on Tuesday docked two businessmen, Edwin Adai, 40, and Asbenu Adai, 38, in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court in Abuja over alleged criminal intimidation.

The Prosecutor, Mr Adeyemi Oyeyemi, told the court that Anneozeng Ogozi of Area 11, Abuja, reported the matter at the police station on Sept. 3.

Oyeyemi said that the defendants, who reside at Kukuaba Market, Kubwa, Abuja, sent text messages to Ogozi, telling her that they would make life miserable for her.

The prosecutor added that the defendants had admitted sending text messages to Ogozi during police investigation, noting that the offence contravened Section 397 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to charge against them and their Counsel,
Ikenna Okeke, applied for their bail and assured the court that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mr Musa Abdulrazak, granted bail to the suspects in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Abdulrazak said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, the address must be verified and must deposit affidavit of means.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Nov. 7, for hearing.
