Enugu – The Police in Enugu have arrested two suspects for kidnapping and armed robbery in Amala and Obollo-Afor communities in Udenu Local Government area of the state.
A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, on Tuesday in Enugu said the arrests were made during a raid on suspected criminal hideouts at Amala community by Udenu Police Division on Sunday, Nov. 1.
It said that the suspects were nabbed during exchange of fire between the hoodlums and the police.
“One locally made muzzle pistol, one single barrel gun with four live cartridges, two cutlasses and assorted items, believed to be charms, were recovered from them.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“The suspects, alongside their cohorts now at large, participated in the alleged kidnap of one Odo Cletus on May 24 as well as several robbery operations along the new Makurdi Road in Obollo-Afor,’’ the statement said.
In another development, an auto crash, which occurred along Enugu- Abakaliki Road in Emene on Nov. 1 at about 9.00 p.m. killed two persons, while others sustained various degrees of injury.
The Police statement said that there was a collision between a bus and a truck along the road after which the truck went into flames.
It said that the bodies of the deceased and those injured had been evacuated to a nearby hospital.
