AWKA – The Police Command in Anambra on Tuesday in Awka paraded 50 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals operating in the state.
Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Hosea Karma, said that the suspects were arrested in September.
Karma said that the suspects included those who terrorised churches and robbed the Fidelity Bank branch at Nnewi. He said that one of the suspects, a female, was arrested for allegedly keeping kidnap victims in her father’s house at Ayamelum local government area while a native doctor was arrested for allegedly providing charms to criminals. [eap_ad_1] Karma said that some of the items recovered from the suspected hoodlums included AK47 rifles, fake vehicle number plates, vehicles and air conditioners.
The police commissioner advised parents to watch the behaviour of their children and ensure that their houses were not being used to perpetrate crimes, especially for hiding kidnap victims.
He assured residents of the state that the command was fully prepared to flush out criminals in the state and also commended the state government for providing the needed assistance for crime fighting.(NAN)
