LAGOS – The Police in Lagos State on Tuesday said there was no casualty from the mayhem at the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primaries on Monday.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed to the News Agency (NAN) that there was no casualty except for a correspondent of NAN that was slightly injured.
He said the police was able to avert the situation from supporters of the different aspirants who tried to disrupt the primaries.
Nwosu said that the police had to fire tear gas into the air to disperse the uprising in order to bring the situation under control.
According to him, no arrest had been made yet and the supporters of the different aspirants were warned to desist from any form of violence during the elections.
Nwosu also assured Lagosians that the Police Force would continue to strive to protect the lives and properties of the people.
He added that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, had assured residents of the provision of maximum security during the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention in Lagos beginning on Wednesday.
The convention will elect the party’s flag bearer in the 2015 presidential election. (NAN)
