Enugu – The Enugu State Police Command says it will use regular sports exercise to build mental and physical alertness of its personnel in the state.
The spokesman of the command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Enugu that the command would continue to use exercise as an avenue to promote healthiness of police personnel.
Amaraizu was speaking on the sideline of regular monthly exercise of the command.
“The regular exercise, which is aimed at keeping officers and men in good shape, had helped in reducing health challenges of our officers and men.
“It had also improved their performance in crime prevention and detection as well as enhancing metal alertness,’’ he said.
The spokesman said that September walk exercise would be hold on Saturday along major roads in Enugu metropolis.
Amaraizu noted that this month exercise would be carried out in collaboration with some sister security agencies.
“It will also improve synergy between corporate organisations and relevant stakeholders in the state since participants for the exercise would be drawn from them,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the exercise, which is tagged: Jog/Walk for Life and Agility would commence at 6p.m. at the command’s headquarters in Enugu on Saturday.
