KATSINA – The Katsina State Government says it recorded 92 per cent in routine and polio immunization coverage in 2014.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Mannir Talba made the disclosure on Wednesday in Katsina while briefing newsmen on the achievements recorded by the ministry.
He said that the state recorded no case of polio in the past two years because of the high immunization coverage.
Talba said that the success was achieved through the cooperation of stakeholders in the fight against the six child killer diseases in the state.

The commissioner also said that the government had established comprehensive healthcare centres in 30 out of the 34 local government areas of the state.

Talba noted that the government had awarded another contract for the construction of healthcare centres in Ketare, Kankara Local Government at the cost of N93.3 million.
He further said that the state government had awarded contract for the supply of medical equipment for public health care facilities in the state.

The commissioner also said another contract worth N88.2 million had been approved for the rehabilitation of Bakori and Mashi Comprehensive Health Centres.

Talba pointed out that the administration would continue to accord health care delivery a top priority.
He urged the people to support the state government’s policies and programmes aimed at improving their living conditions.(NAN)
