Kumbotso (Kano State) – Alhaji Nasir Gwarzo, the Health Educator in Kumbotso Local Government Area in Kano state says 90 per cent compliance has been recorded during the first day of the fourth round of Polio Immunisation exercise in the area.
He disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday shortly after the evening review meeting held at the end of the exercise for the day in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
According to him, the success was recorded as a result of support the immunisation teams received from traditional rulers and members of the communities.
He described the success recorded as a great development compared to the previous exercise in the area.
“During the last immunisation exercise, we faced a lot of challenges, but I want to assure you that today we noticed a lot of changes.
“In Kumbotso, we are targeting over 181,129 children at the end of the four day exercise expected to end on Tuesday.
“Our target for the last exercise was 181,129, but at the end of the exercise we were able to immunised 186, 461 children”, Gwarzo said.
He added that at the end of the exercise for today, across the 11 Wards of the Local government, they were able to immunise 40,180 children.
Also speaking to NAN, the District Head of Kumbotso, Alhaji Ahmed Bayero, commended the efforts of the immunisation officials for their understanding and patience.
The District head, represented by Ibrahim Ahmad, pledges to do everything possible to support the health workers to ensure the success of the exercise.
He commended the State Government and other partners for their concerns over the wellbeing of the people in the area.
